Anyone purchasing property in Greece requires a Greek tax roll number (A.F.M.). You will also need one to open a Greek bank account Typically it is necessary to open a Greek bank account through which funds for a property purchase pass. You can opt to have internet banking so that you can control your account from home. The bank will provide you with an import document for every transfer that you make from abroad. The import document, popularly known as a 'pink slip', is accepted as proof of the origin of the funds used to buy property in Greece by the tax office. We can assist you with opening a Greek bank account. Appointing a lawyer If you should wish to appoint a lawyer we can introduce you to an English speaking lawyer who can act on your behalf. Power of Attorney A power of attorney is also helpful for mundane but necessary tasks in respect of your purchase such as visiting government offices, utility companies etc. The power of attorney can include applying for a tax roll number and opening a bank account. The power of attorney can be executed in Greece or in your home country. We can assist you with the preparation and execution of a power of attorney.
